Noel Ancell OAM is an Australian composer, voice teacher and conductor.

A highly successful choir director with over fifty years’ experience, Noel has worked with choristers of all ages. His many compositions, both sacred and secular, are frequently performed in Australia and North America. His extensive studio experience as a voice teacher is supported by specialised training in modern vocal pedagogy.

With a particular focus on restructuring and raising standards, Noel has extensive experience in administrative and staff leadership at senior levels of arts organisations, academic institutions, businesses and union and political organisations and has provided editorial leadership for the journal Sing Out.

Noel is the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, including the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for outstanding services to choral music. He has been awarded life membership of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA) in recognition of his contribution, which includes serving as ANCA’s President. Noel has also been presented with the Certificate of Recognition from the Victorian chapter of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS).
