Conductor
Noel is an accomplished conductor with decades of experience. A long time Artistic Director and Conductor of the Australian Boys Choir and The Vocal Consort, Noel led thirteen tours to Europe, Asia and USA in addition to many tours within Australia. He has taught conducting at graduate and undergraduate levels.
Noel studied conducting at the Westminster Choir School and, always willing to learn, acknowledges the influence of Robert Shaw, Rodney Eichenberger and David Hill, amongst others.
Noel was the founding conductor of Monash University Orchestra (now Monash Philharmonic Orchestra). He was the Organist and Director of Music at St Mary’s Cathedral Hobart (1974-1978), Conductor of the Majellan Singers (women’s choir) and a guest conductor at AmericaFest, both in the USA and the Czech Republic.
Now mostly retired from conducting, Noel remains Artistic Director of the National Youth Choir of Australia (NYCA) and has conducted several seasons of NYCA performances across Australia.
